Governing Structure

Steering Committee

The Union City Family Center has developed a collaborative and inclusive leadership model that promotes accountability and engagement at all levels. All of our work is done under the auspices of the New Haven Unified School District and their Board of Education. Our Steering Committee meets quarterly and representation from this group includes civic and community leaders. These meetings are informed by the work of our Collaborative, that includes representation from 40 nonprofits, civic organizations, health care, and funding organizations. Quarterly, our Community Council formed primarily of educators, parents, and caregivers meet to discuss the needs of their community as emerged. Our Family Service Assistants, working at all of our schools also provide a firm grounding in the needs of students and families.
